Trade In Terms And Conditions

Last updated: 28 July 2026

These Trade-In Terms and Conditions apply when you offer games, consoles, accessories or other gaming-related items to Second Save Gaming in exchange for payment by bank transfer or store credit.

By submitting a trade-in request or sending items to us, you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.

1. About Us

Second Save Gaming is operated by Adam Taylor, a sole trader.

Email: hello@secondsavegaming.co.uk
Website: secondsavegaming.co.uk

2. Eligibility and Ownership

You must be at least 18 years old and legally entitled to sell the submitted items.

By submitting items, you confirm that:

  • you are the lawful owner or have the owner's authority;
  • the items are not stolen, counterfeit, subject to finance or otherwise unlawfully obtained;
  • the items do not contain unlawful or prohibited material;
  • all information you provide is complete and accurate; and
  • you have disclosed known faults, damage, missing parts, modifications, locks or restrictions.

We may request reasonable evidence of identity, ownership or authority. We may refuse a trade and report an item to the appropriate authority where we reasonably suspect fraud, theft, counterfeiting or other unlawful activity.

3. Items We Consider

We consider a range of gaming products, including current and retro games, consoles, handheld systems, controllers, accessories, cases, manuals and collector's items. We may consider boxed, unboxed, working or faulty items.

Acceptance depends on the item, condition, authenticity, demand, safety and our current purchasing requirements. A quotation request does not require us to buy an item.

4. Requesting a Provisional Quote

Request a quote through the trade-in form or by email. Provide as much accurate information as possible, including:

  • the item, model, edition and storage capacity where relevant;
  • whether it is boxed;
  • included cables, controllers and accessories;
  • cosmetic and working condition; and
  • faults, damage, repairs, modifications or missing parts.

Photographs are optional unless specifically requested, but they may improve the accuracy of a provisional quote.

5. Provisional Quotes

An initial quote is provisional and based on the information available at the time. It is not a guaranteed purchase price.

If the items arrive materially as described and with the stated contents, we expect to honour the provisional price. The final price may be higher where condition or contents are better than described.

The final price may be lower where an item:

  • is in poorer condition than described;
  • has an undisclosed fault or damage;
  • is missing a case, cable, accessory, part or packaging;
  • is a different model, edition or specification;
  • cannot be fully tested;
  • is account-locked, activation-locked or passcode-protected;
  • is counterfeit, modified or otherwise not as described; or
  • has materially changed in market value before receipt.

A provisional quote does not oblige either party to complete the trade. Any stated validity period applies. If no period is stated, send items promptly and contact us before sending if there has been a material delay.

6. Sending Items to Us

If you decide to proceed, we will provide the address and instructions.

You are responsible for:

  • the initial cost of sending the items;
  • secure and suitable packaging;
  • using an appropriately tracked and insured delivery service;
  • complying with carrier rules, including rules for batteries;
  • retaining proof of postage, the receipt and tracking details; and
  • addressing the parcel correctly.

Risk remains with you until the carrier records the parcel as delivered to our designated address. Loss or damage during the initial journey should be claimed from the carrier you selected and may affect the final price.

The initial postage cost is not reimbursed where a trade is not completed, regardless of the reason, except where law requires otherwise.

7. Personal Data and Account Security

Before sending a console, storage device or other data-bearing item, you should:

  • back up information you wish to keep;
  • remove discs, memory cards, SIM cards and unrelated personal items;
  • sign out of accounts;
  • remove parental controls, passwords and passcodes;
  • disconnect activation locks and linked online accounts; and
  • restore the device to factory settings where possible.

Inspection or refurbishment may require us to reset, restore or erase a device. By submitting it, you authorise reasonable steps needed to inspect and test it.

We cannot guarantee recovery or preservation of information left on an item. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information connected with a trade-in is handled.

8. Inspection and Final Price

After confirmed delivery, we inspect and, where applicable, test the submitted items.

We aim to provide the final price within six operating hours. Operating hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm UK time, and only time within those hours counts.

A delay may occur where specialist testing, authenticity checks, additional information or a large submission is involved. We will contact you where the delay is material.

The final price may be the same as, higher than or lower than the provisional quote. The final price is fixed and is not open to negotiation, but you remain free to reject it.

Unless a different period is stated, the final price remains available for seven calendar days. If you do not respond, we will make reasonable efforts to contact you. If there is still no response, we may treat the offer as rejected and return the items.

9. Accepting the Final Price and Payment

You may accept the final price using the instructions in our email and choose:

  • bank transfer; or
  • Second Save Gaming store credit.

We aim to issue payment or store credit within one hour of acceptance during operating hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm UK time. An acceptance received outside those hours is processed from 8:00am the following day.

Bank-transfer arrival times can be affected by your bank or payment provider and are outside our control after payment has been sent.

A trade is completed when you accept the final price and we issue the agreed payment or store credit. Ownership transfers to Second Save Gaming at that point. A completed trade cannot normally be reversed merely because you change your mind, although rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

10. Rejecting the Final Price

You are under no obligation to accept the final price.

If you reject it, we will return the items to a United Kingdom address using tracked delivery at no charge to you. We will also normally provide free tracked return where we decide not to buy an item after receiving it, except where it cannot legally or safely be returned.

Risk in the returned parcel remains with Second Save Gaming until the carrier records delivery to the address supplied or another authorised location.

You must provide an accurate return address and collect the parcel where required. If a parcel is returned because of incorrect information or failure to collect, we may ask you to pay a reasonable redelivery cost.

The original amount you paid to send the items to us is not reimbursed for an unsuccessful trade.

11. Successful-Trade Postage Uplift

For a successfully completed trade, you may qualify for an additional payment towards the original postage cost.

The uplift is limited to the lower of:

  • the actual initial postage amount shown on a valid receipt; or
  • 10% of the accepted final trade-in price.

To qualify, you must provide a clear valid receipt when accepting the final price. The receipt must relate to the parcel used for that trade and show a postage charge paid by you.

The uplift does not cover packaging, insurance or optional services unless expressly agreed. No uplift is payable if the final price is rejected, the trade is cancelled or not completed, the items cannot lawfully be accepted, or a valid receipt is not provided when required.

12. Items We Cannot Accept

We may refuse items that are:

  • stolen or suspected to be stolen;
  • counterfeit or unlawfully reproduced;
  • subject to finance or another person's ownership rights;
  • dangerous, contaminated or unsafe to handle;
  • account-locked, activation-locked or protected by an unknown passcode;
  • prohibited by law; or
  • outside our current buying requirements.

We will normally arrange a tracked return at no charge unless law or safety prevents return. Where appropriate, an unlawful item may be retained or surrendered to an authority.

13. Multiple Items and Bundles

For multiple items, we may provide individual prices or one combined bundle price.

Where individual prices are provided, we may allow individual acceptance or rejection. A single bundle price must be accepted or rejected as a whole unless we agree otherwise.

Items not identified in the trade-in request should not be included. If additional property is sent accidentally, we will take reasonable steps to identify and return it.

14. Condition Changes and Reasonable Testing

We will take reasonable care of items in our possession and use testing methods appropriate to the item.

We are not responsible for deterioration caused solely by a pre-existing fault or inherent weakness where reasonable care and skill was used. This does not exclude responsibility for damage caused by our negligence or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

15. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of statutory rights or any other non-excludable liability.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for:

  • loss or damage before an item is delivered to us;
  • personal data you failed to remove from a device, except where law provides otherwise;
  • loss that was not reasonably foreseeable;
  • delay caused by a carrier, bank or event outside our reasonable control; or
  • loss caused by materially inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by you.

16. Privacy

We use trade-in information to assess requests, provide quotations, inspect items, arrange payment or return, prevent fraud, maintain business records and comply with legal obligations. Further details appear in our Privacy Policy.

17. Complaints

If you believe a quote, inspection, payment or return has not been handled correctly, email hello@secondsavegaming.co.uk with your trade-in reference and a clear explanation.

We will review the available inspection information and supporting evidence fairly. The fact that a final price is fixed does not prevent you from raising a genuine complaint about an error, unfair treatment or breach of these terms.

18. Changes, Law and Contact

We may update these terms for future trade-ins. The version applying to your trade is normally the version available when you submit the request, unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Consumers elsewhere in the United Kingdom retain mandatory protections and court rights applying where they live.
